Just a gentle reminder that there will be no class on Sunday Dec 27 due to Christmas and to Tome’s son’s baby shower.
Wednesday classes on the 23rd and 30th of December are unaffected. Both will be longsword and abraccare classes.

This front page is seldom updated but there’s still plenty of activity at PHEMAS. Please email either of the contacts and also log into the forums using your REAL NAME! I need to approve every new account and we get a lot of spambots trying to register so if it doesn’t look like a valid person’s name then I’ll probably delete it straight away. If I do delete your registration, email me at christopher -at- phemas.com and we’ll work it out.

Sorry to anyone who may have recently registered in the forums. We’ve been hacked and the admins had to reload from a backup. If your account is missing, please re-register.

Please join me in throwing a huge congratulations to the PHEMAS team representing us in Helsinki these past two weeks. Gradings are announced and the guys did very well.
Yu Sarn, Tome and Anthony all moved up a grade and (at last notice) are working to pass the SESH basic cirriculum. I moved up one grade as well to Senior Free Scholar.
Ken put in a massive effort and has been awarded the rank of Scholar. A well deserved promotion for a valuable member of the PHEMAS team!
Big kudos go to Greg who has managed to grade all the way to Provost. A stunning acheivement and one that will certainly need toasting upon his return!

Finally, we are coming back online. There was an explosion in one of the transorfmers for the data centre in Houstan that hosts this web page and they had to take down all of their power until the fire department gave them the all clear to go back in and repair the damage. Thankfully, nobody was hurt but apparantly, the transformer took out 3 walls in the power room.

Just a friendly reminder to all who might register in the forums. Please use your real name. We get a lot of bots registering bogus accounts so if you registration even looks like it’s a fake handle, your account is likely to be deleted.
Real names only in the forums please. It keeps people polite and honest.

There have been some inquiries lately that seem to confuse PHEMAS with another group in Singapore. I’d like to make it clear the PHEMAS operates with the syllabis guidance of the School of European Swordsmanship, Helsinki and we are not affiliated in any other way with any group, either local or international.
We do not use any weapon ’simulators’. We use historically accurate training tools under a strict disciplinary structure following the techniques laid down in the manuscripts 600 years ago. We are a serious martial art, we train properly and safely and we enjoy the results.
We are not a sporting or competitive organisation, we are a historical martial art. If you’d like to be involved in reconstructing historical martial arts then feel free to approach us. If you’d prefer a more sporting or competitive approach, then I highly recommend the wonderful people down at Z-fencing who can help you to achieve great heights in that direction. You can find a link to them in our links page.
Thank you for your attention,
Christopher Blakey
President

Only one week to go for the Guy Windsor Seminar!
Comments Off
Hi Guys,
I realise that I’m a bit behind on posting this but based on expressed interest, here’s the prices that are needed to break even:
Early Bird Price:
Members - $270
Non-Members $285
Paid on or before Sunday 3rd February:
Members $280
Non-Members $295
Between the 4th February and the first day of the seminar:
Members $300
Non-Members $315
There will be absolutely no single day attendance, you come for both days or not at all. There will also be no scheduled lesson on that weekend as Guy wishes to give the maximum value in training and have everyone still available for the makan session afterwards.
Cheques should be made out to: The Pan Historical European Martial Arts Society.
Members are defined as all paid up society members for 2008.
We look forward to a great Seminar as there seems to be many updates to Guy’s interpretation that he will cover. This is the most important event on our calendar and there’s nothing like getting to see the best first hand. We strongly encourage all students to attend if possible.
